The Men and the Banner

This is a photo taken somewhere in France.  I believe it shows my father and the cannon company mascot, a dog the unit found in a bombed out French village.  She thereafter travelled with the company across Europe.  My father named her "Madchen" which as I recall is German for "young girl" or "maiden".  My wife Lynnea and I revived the name years later when we adopted a stray and named her Madchen.
